Founded with a passion for the martial art of kendo, the NYU Kendo Team has built a strong reputation in the collegiate kendo community. For decades, we have consistently earned medals at prestigious intercollegiate tournaments, including the Harvard University Shoryuhai, Boston University-Kai, and Columbia University Shishihai.

Beyond our great record of competition, we take pride in the fact that we foster a culture of excellence and perseverance. The vast majority of our members join with no prior kendo experience, yet through dedicated training and teamwork, they have gone on to place in—and even win—national tournaments. Our commitment to growth and discipline ensures that every member, regardless of experience, has the opportunity to develop their skills and compete at the highest levels, while having fun along the way.
